How to focus on the things that really matter!

 We all have aspects of our lives that we wish were better or different in some way. By doing regular life review you will find it easier to identify areas in your life that you need to make changes to and identify the activities you should be involved in.

Before you start, make sure you have a notebook, pen and coloured markers of Red, Yellow and Gree

1. Review and write down what you want to achieve in these areas of your life. Feel free to delete and add areas you feel are more relevant and meaningful to you.

Spiritual…..Social….Family….Friendships…Health…Work/Business

Home Environment…..Hobbies….Fun….Money….Me time

 

2.Make a list of all the activities that you are currently involved in

 

3.Answer these questions in relation to the activities that you are currently involved in to help you focus and prioritise.

  1. How is what I am doing going to helping me achieve my mission?
  2. Do I enjoy it? Some things you might just want to keep around because it’s fun. Fun is allowed!
  3. What am I gaining by doing this activity?
  4. What would I lose by not engaging in this activity?
  5. Is this activity taking other resources from me that could be useful in helping me live out my goals, spend more time with people that really matter to me and allow me to have some me time?

 

4.Go through the list of things you do and use the guide below to help you plan and focus on the activities that will help you achieve the things that really matter to you.

Although Monday 16th January according to researchers is Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, knowing this we can spend the weekend planning how we are going to focus on being happy and sharing smiles with as many people as we can!

 

Here is my simple guide to things we can al try – please feel free to email me your suggestions

As you go to bed on Sunday night, keep saying to yourself “Monday is going to be a very happy day” smile as you imagine all the wonderful things that are going to happen on Monday. Then go to sleep with a smile!

When you wake up in the morning, lie in bed for a few minutes and slowly breath in and out and enjoy being alive.

Get up and walk around your home and just be grateful for all you have, life, family, roof over your head, electric, heating, food, etc

Stand still – Think happy thoughts whilst smiling for a minute (One Minute Smilence)

Sing – Wake up and feel happy boom boom, I feel like dancing around boom boom boom ( now start dancing like no one;s watching)

Stand in front of a mirror— Make some funny faces and Laugh till you can’t laugh any more!!

As you go out, be prepared to share  your smiles with as many people as you can.

2016 has been a year when we had moments that made us cry and moments that made us smile. As we come towards the end of the year, I suggest you  take time out just for a minute to recall the moments that gave you hope and made you smile. This I hope will help you to be more positive,  feel confident and have hope for a better 2017 filled with more happy moments.

What you need to do your One Minute Smilence

* A quiet place where you can sit
* A note pad or plain paper, pen and coloured pencils
* Images of people or experiences that made you smile eg holiday snaps

How to do your One Minute Smilence

1.Find a quiet place to sit and take time to slowly breathe in and out 7 times

2.Get your note pad or a plain sheet of paper and write down or draw images of people, and experiences that made you smile.

3.Set your timer for a minute

4.Now just spend a minute focussing on the things that make you smile and keep smiling for the whole minute.

5.After the minute has gone – just shout excitedly “ WooHoo BoomBoom” and go share smile with someone

Remember to take time out on a regular basis to do your One Minute Smilence

How to do the One Minute Smilence on #ChristmasDay

This christmas why not spend time thinking happy thoughts or recalling happy experiences in your life  whilst smiling for a minute. You can do this even if you are celebrating on your own, or if you are sharing with family and friends.  You can also do this if  like me you are missing loved once no longer with us this  christmas – recall the treasured  moments you shared.

How to do your One Minute Smilence  this Christmas

* Find somewhere confortable to sit down, and if you are doing this with a number of  family and friends you could sit round the dinner table or even relax on the floor ( all age groups can do this)

*Get everyone  to slowly breathe in and out 7 times

*Set your timer for a minute

* If   you   are doing this on your own, spend   a minute recalling happy moments and thinking happy thoughts whilst smiling for a minute.

*If you  are doingthis with a few people  get everyone to go round sharing thier happy moments or happy thoughts for a minute  each whilst the   rest of the group is smiling also.
